The Bargaining Unit 2 contract for AFSCME Council 93 and SEIU 888 was ratified by members on Thursday, July 12, 2007 by a vote of 2,141 yes to 107 no votes.
This is a one year agreement that includes a 3% across the board salary increase effective July 8, 2007. Once the contract is implemented the Bargaining Committee will hold meetings to determine how the Classification Pool will be utilized and by what titles.
The Bargaining Committee will also begin in October of this year to negotioate the next successor agreement as per language in this one year contract.

AFSCME Family Scholarship opens for applications on August 7, 2007 for high scool students graduating in 2008.

Please stop by and check it out. The students who have attended so far have enjoyed the program and are learning lots of things and supervisors are now commenting on the differences they are seeing in the work of those students.
The instructor's have been great at dealing with various levels of knowledge within the same class so each student gets what they need. We have had folks from Dieticians to LPN's to FSW's attending. Everyone can learn something to make you more comfortable with writing reports and notes, communicating with others and getting to know your way around the computer.
