The Massachusetts Department of Correction's mission is to promote public safety by incarcerating offenders while providing opportunities for participation in effective programming designed to reduce recidivism.

AFSCME members who are represented by Local 2880 and who belong to SUMMUP are state employees across the Commonwealth who are proud to work in the field of  Corrections and are dedicated to the care and custody of those committed to their facilities. Local 2880 is a statewide local representing the storekeepers working in the facilities within DOC.
