Department of Mental Health
The Massachusetts Department of Mental Health (DMH) sets the standards for the operation of mental health facilities and community residential programs, and provides clinical, rehabilitative and support services for adults with serious mental illness, and children and adolescents with serious mental illness or serious emotional disturbance.
AFSCME members represented by locals belonging to SUMMUP are state employees across the Commonwealth who are proud to work in the field of Mental Health and are dedicated to the care of their clients. There are seven SUMMUP locals representing employees working in the facilities/community houses within DMH.
